John 5:28-29 NKJV - ""Do not marvel at this;
for the hour is coming in which all who are in the graves will hear His voice
"and come forth--those who have done good, to the resurrection of life,
and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of condemnation."
Revelation
20:12-13 NKJV - "And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God,
and books were opened. And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And
the dead were judged according to their works, by the things which were
written in the books. The sea gave up the dead who were in it, and Death and
Hades delivered up the dead who were in them. And they were judged, each one
according to his works."
Ecclesiastes 9:5 NKJV - "For the living know that
they will die; But the dead know nothing, And they have no more reward,
For the memory of them is forgotten."
Ecclesiastes 3:19-22 NKJV - "For what happens to the
sons of men also happens to animals; one thing befalls them: as one dies, so
dies the other. Surely, they all have one breath; man has no advantage over
animals, for all is vanity. All go to one place: all are from the dust, and all
return to dust. Who knows the spirit of the sons of men, which goes upward, and
the spirit of the animal, which goes down to the earth? So I perceived that
nothing is better than that a man should rejoice in his own works, for that is
his heritage. For who can bring him to see what will happen after him?"
Inference in the question:- If Ecclesiastes says that
the dead have no more reward, for the memory of them is forgotten, how does it
happen that the hour is coming in which all who are in graves will hear His
voice, and come forth. Those, who have done good, to the resurrection of life,
and those who have done evil, to the resurrecting of condemnation?
Answer:
As in John 5:28- 29, they are guarded until the day
of judgment of Christ. They (the dead) have no more reward until the coming of
the Christ. After that, the Lord Christ will come, the dead will rise. There is
no hope for heathen. So, they think that the dead have no more reward. When the
hour is coming in which all who are in graves will hear His voice, in which way
and where these spirits left their bodies, in the same way, their spirit will
join to the glorified body. As in Corinthians 5:7-12, the bodies of the one,
who fell in the sea and died, will deliver to the spirit by the sea. The bodies
of the one, who fell in the valleys and died, will deliver to the spirit by the
valleys. The bodies of the one, who burn on the earth, and buried in the earth,
died and destroyed according to situations, will deliver the spirits by the
earth. For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ that each one
may receive according to what we have done, whether good or bad.
But, the Lord Christ appeared along with His body to
the disciples and devotees. Likewise, when the judgment day is coming, in which
all who are in graves will hear His voice, our spirits will receive the bodies
in glory. The body of Christ in glory could enter in house, even if the doors
were shut. Likewise, our bodies also will change as the effective bodies in
glory.
The Lord God will give the Lord Christ the throne of
His father David. But, we cannot think
that this throne is in heaven. The angel of the Lord said to Joseph, “Joseph,
son of David”. The people called the Lord Jesus as the Son of David. There is
lot of difference in these two sentences. There are differences among the
people. We can recognize according to the parable of Lazarus and rich man. It
is not said that Lazarus ascended to heaven, but it is written that the rich
saw Abraham afar off and Lazarus in his bosom. All the corpses from the ruler
of the country to the body of utter poverty are decayed.
“For dust you
are, and to dust you shall return”. Just as the ants come from the small hole,
in the same way, many spirits also come from one grave. They will come at the
most in union like the ants. When will
they come?
They will come only when the angel of Lord sounded
the trumpet. A body was buried in one grave. After some period another body
will be buried in the same grave. In this way, many people slept in one grave.
When a person died with divine knowledge as the
righteous person in his poverty, he will come in the proximity of the Lord in
majestic way. But, when such a person, who suffered with utmost poverty, was
buried in this world with the murmur of the relatives, disgust of neighbor,
etc., the Lord God will raise these bodies in divine glory with the sound of
trumpet.
So, according to the Ecclesiastes, there is no reward
to the body until the end of this era. But, according to the John 5:28-29.
They will get reward according to their deeds after
the end of this Era and during the second coming of the Lord.
