Question 25 - Why the Lord, who does not retain His anger forever, punish the people with everlasting punishment?

Matthew 25:46 NKJV - "And these will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into eternal life."
Micah 7:18 NKJV - "Who is a God like You, Pardoning iniquity And passing over the transgression of the remnant of His heritage? He does not retain His anger forever, Because He delights in mercy."
Answer:
Here, what is meaning in remnant of His heritage in Micah 7:18? The Lord God is pardoning the iniquity and transgressions of remaining persons who are not worthy of taking death penalty. Death penalty is given to those who committed greater sins as described in 1 John 5:16-17. The iniquities and transgressions committed by these remaining persons were bare small crimes.  So, the Lord God is pardoning the remaining persons.
The one, who did terrible sins, i.e. adultery, seduction, murder, looting, etc., change his mind from this kind of sins with repented heart and promise with firm decision by lamenting that he will not do any more sins and kneels down before the Lord to pardon him will be forgiven by Lord.

If he as a wicked, instead of changing his mind and did ghastly deeds in terrible state without repentance for his sins, how can he get everlasting life, instead of everlasting punishment?
