Joel 2:13 NKJV - "So rend your heart, and not
your garments; Return to the LORD your God, For He is gracious and
merciful, Slow to anger, and of great kindness; And He relents from
doing harm."
Nahum 1:2 NKJV - "God
is jealous, and the LORD avenges; The LORD avenges and is furious. The LORD
will take vengeance on His adversaries, And He reserves wrath for His
enemies;"
Answer:
The Lord God became furious, according to our sinful
deeds. So, He handed us over to the wicked one. If we turn away from the
abominable deeds which we are doing, and repent, He can stop His revengeful
acts and His fury. Thus, the inner meaning in this is “He will not harm which
He ought to do us if we repent’.
Jonah 3:10 & 4:1, The Lord God was furious
according to weight of the sins of people in the city Nineveh and sent Jonah
the prophet. And the Lord God saved all the people of the city Nineveh from the
destructive deed, because the people of the city Nineveh repented from their
sinful deeds.
